Blog2024 ≫ Drink your weak lemon drink now

Been busy with work, so not much writing here. Friday should be a more relaxed day, it's tech improvement day, the chance to work on something different. I had to help someone with what they were looking into, some Splunk dashboards, and it turned out the thing they were having problems with was also broken in my own work, and the fix took longer than I'd hoped. I did get quite a bit of the CI/CD improvements out of the way, all the pipelines that are not ready for continuous deployment yet are using the best new bits of the one pipeline that is using it. I started looking into and documenting an issue that I thought was going to come up next time we go into code freeze (have to turn off the continuous deployment then and also add a new step into the old process) but as I was writing it up I realised it was all going to work perfectly as it is. A step in the pipeline checks the calendar to see if we should be in code freeze, then it generates and extra document which needs to be approved by someone higher up before the process can carry on. I'm pretty pleased with it all. One unrelated bit annoyingly started to go wrong though, the integration between Microsoft's MSTeams and Microsoft's Azure DevOps stopped working for me, I seem have two accounts and they won't link together. It's making me think bypass this step altogether, just use msteams for reporting some output, don't try and use it to feed back in to the pipeline again. It shows a "you're deploying now, click here to confirm", it's meant to be an approval step for other team members, but as we always approve our own it is a waste of time I think.

Anyway, didn't mean to say so much about work, but it is occupying my every thought.

Off to Parkrun now, not really feeling like it, have been tired all week. Will feel better after. Then we're going go-karting later, then I need to think about how I can check off six more pubs in the next five days, when three of them are non-drinking days.

Weather looks ok today. I remember thinking how nice it as looking yesterday morning, the view out the window was lovely, there was a coastguard boat cutting a line across a calm blue sea. Then it turned stinking throughout the day, and I only went to Tesco and back. Exercise and step count this week has been very poor About to improve that.

Light rain showers and a moderate breeze, 2 - 9℃.
