Blog2023 ≫ Pick of the pops chart rundown of 2023

Following this roundup of 2022 here we go with my music stats for 2023. I think I listened to more music on my phone this year, and more in the house, so it might be more representative of my actual tastes this year. Or then again it might not. As before let's do top ten tracks first:

  1. Hare Krsna - Hüsker Dü
  2. Shine On - Overkill
  3. Lola - The Kinks
  4. Caught, Can We Get a Witness? - Public Enemy
  5. Crazy Crazy Nights - KISS
  6. Live Forever - Oasis
  7. Red Light Spells Danger - Billy Ocean
  8. Alone - Heart
  9. Trash - Alice Cooper
  10. Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple

Definitely some oddities in there at the top, I could not tell you how Shine On by Overkill even goes. It must be one that comes up on a random playlist when I play heavy metal using the spotify in the kitchen. I have played Husker Du quite a bit, trying to look cool. And I did go crazy for Red Light Spells Danger this year, great tune. It is telling how few of those bands get turned into links here, because they are not bands I talk about a lot or have seen.

Top ten artists is a bit more predictable

  1. Suede
  2. David Bowie
  3. Mötley Crüe
  4. Blur
  5. Pulp
  6. Megadeth
  7. Oasis
  8. Super Furry Animals
  9. Radiohead
  10. Queen

Nothing newer than the mid-nineties there, that's how I like it! Only had to edit one out of that list, the "Jon Richardson and the Futurenauts" podcast which would have been my fifth most listened to artist.

Belated merry christmas and a happy new year in advance, here's to happy listening in 2024.
