Blog2023 ≫ Feeble week for exercise

Just have not had time to go out so even my step count is pathetic for this week. Yesterday I did go out, but on the bus, into Folkestone. Went to the East Cliff Tavern (where they had not one but TWO real ales on) and then I have a vague memory of going to the Firkin Alehouse after that. Was feeling fit and fresh for parkrun this morning!

Parkrun results not in yet, but Octopus energy saving is:

Across the Saving Sessions you joined between December 11th and today, you earned roughly 1110 Octopoints – worth £1.39. You'll be able to see all your exact results per Session on your online results table within the next few days.

And there's four hours of free energy today! Shame Clare seems to have washed and tumbled everything in the house yesterday. Sign up here1 to join Octopus Energy and we both earn some money.

Still not packed for holiday yet, and I am going to the post office now to try and get some Euros. You can't buy the local currency outside of the country but Euros are advised.

Everyone can bring one small under seat cabin bag per person on board for free.

It can be a maximum size of 45 x 36 x 20 cm (including any handles and wheels) and must be kept under the seat in front of you. That should be enough to bring all the essentials for your journey or for a short trip. Your bag can weigh up to 15kg, but we do ask that you’re able to lift and carry it yourself.

Hmm, is this really enough baggage for a week? I am trying to find out. I cannot squeeze my normal bag into these dimensions really, so I'm going to take my work bag. It's not much more than a laptop bag, but it is the right size. It does not go deep enough to make the most of these dimensions. I think I will have to wear most of my clothes and take even less than I thought. Going with my plan of disposing of the clothes I am travelling in again2, so wearing old t-shirt and pants that I won't be bringing home again. I don't think I can put anything in the big case Clare has paid for as that is fully loaded to the max 23kg weight already.

Keeping this holiday related content hidden for now but will reveal it when we get back from Marrakech.

Thirty-three years ago today was one of my earliest gigs, The Senseless Things supporting The Cropdusters in Southampton.

Sunny intervals and a moderate breeze, 9 - 11℃.

5k: Five kilometres, about three miles in old money.
