Blog2023 ≫ Another Home Assistant fixage

Got the lamp in T2's room back online, just by re-adding it. Got to keep doing this small steps at a time so I have a chance of finding out what is fixing things and what is breaking them.

One of the Sonos lamps started flashing yesterday though, some sort of cry for help. Think I might have to just replace that bulb.

Going to wait until the weekend until I try and fit my new light switch1, mostly because the power has to go off. I'm not super confident in it, though it looks alright. Is it a smart switch that will actually cut power to the smart bulbs? Do I not then need the smart bulbs? Why is this not solved already? What I really want is a switch that is both smart and dumb. So you can tap it and it sends the smart signals that will control the bulbs, but also so you can somehow "hard press" it and it actually turns the power to the switch. Every so often you need that. Mostly I want the power to the bulb permanently on and then the switch just sending a smart signal. You do need a switch in the traditional place for people who are not used to the smartness. I'm wondering if this smart switch will only be useful in places where I do not have smart bulbs. So in the study and utility right now, it might work. In other places where I have lots of bulbs like the playroom or the kitchen, I'd possibly have to replace them with dumb bulbs again. I will find out at the weekend.

One thing with smart switches is they struggle with the very low load of the LED bulbs and cause flickering.
