Quickly to Leon for breakfast. Then a walk back up to London Euston for me and a train to a whole other weekend. I had just missed my once-an-hour train my one minute, so a bit of a hang around. The train was pretty comfortable though, I felt lucky to have got a table that wasn't reserved. Quite fancy there were wireless charging points on the table and everything.
I had to change at Birmingham, but no time to do anything or look around. My original journey involved changing at Tamworth and there would have been an hour's gap. But not here, not on this slightly later train.
I was meeting friends at the other end, and it turns out they'd had a worse journey than me, so even with my delay I got to Burton-on-Trent before them.
Arranged to meet them in a micropub near the station, The Last Heretic. I settled in there, started a tab, and chatted with the landlord. Told him where we were going next and he recommended loads of pubs. He noticed I wasn't writing these pubs down, so he took my phone and saved them all on the google maps for me. This would come in handy later.
Then the friends called to say they'd arrived at the hotel and would be coming past in a taxi in ten minutes, and would not be coming in. The landlord was not that impressed with this. I had to finish my drink a bit sharpish, and then quickly have a soft drink too to top my spend up to his card minimum. I'd like to think I'll go back to this place at some point.
⬅️ Gig itself was quite good :: I will leave my write up there for a bit ➡️
