Hot busy day. I didn't sleep well last night, partly because it was hot, and partly because I got an update from a friend at work just before going to bed. That Martin Lewis had been on TV saying "quick cash in all your clubcard vouchers now" and it caused a rush on the website. This caused something to happen that should have been picked up by one of the alerts I've been working on recently, but the alert seemingly hadn't fired. Was this my fault..? I did not find out until the next morning that all the things I'd been working on were fine but the third party we are using had had problems. Something to do with Amazon AWS (what I used to host this website) having an outage.
I did a presentation today to a couple of hundred engineers. It was all remote, I did it from home, and it's one I've done twice before now which makes it easier. I was blagging it a bit, but I had my slides from last time as a basis. I got a few comments about my "still hate typescript" t-shirt which I'd worn specially, but nothing like the hilarity it caused within a smaller group. I was not preaching to a likeminded group today. Most engineers are quite enthusiastic about and committed to typescript, but it's still doing nothing for me so far. Something to do with me using vim rather than a modern editing suite for doing all my coding.
Still very hot out again today. I have been out for four very short walks today, including dropping the car down near the school ready for commuting to London tommorrow. I also went in to T2's school to listen to him read, a special fathers day events.
Twenty-one years ago today we were seeing Love (or at least Arthur Lee and musicians) at Royal Festival Hall. Whenever I used the word "love" on here, "I love it" or "I loved it", it becomes a keyword for the blog post and I have to fix it up again. But this time I'm really talking about the band Love.
