Blog2023 ≫ Mad plant

I spoke to one of my neighbours for the first time yesterday, the one with the car lift in his garage, because of this enormous beast that just appeared in his garden. This plant has been there for twenty years and is flowering for the first time. That huge asparagus spear in the middle has appeard in the last couple of weeks, the rest of the plant has been slowly growing its spikey leaves all that time. That spear will grow nine metres tall and turn into a flower, and then the plant will die.

I always thought it was an aloe but it's an agave, the one they make tequila from, so cheers.

I wasn't seeing Nirvana this day in 1990. It was a Sub-Pop tour, Tad were the headliner. This was the third time they played, first two times Nirvana came with them, but not this time.

It's been super hot again today. I think we have missed out on the thunderstorms and so on that they had round the rest of the country. Maybe they're still on their way.
