A whole day off, and I only ticked off one more pub, shocking. We headed to Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth on the bus. The ticket pricing confused me a bit, it was the same price for the boys as for me. I thought "why are they paying so much?" but it should have been "why am I paying so little?", we got the capped £2 bus fare for the first time. Nice quick bus down there. The weather was not ideal, a bit grey and drizzly. The boys not keen to go in any shops of course. Then we couldn't get in any restaurants either, it was busy because of half term. So we headed to the planned activity, the arcade in the bowling alley there. They boys played Mario Kart and Cruise'n'Blast and Minecraft and had a great time. Then we we tried the restaurants again and had a lovely Wagamamas.
We did go in one shop, a sock shop called Stance. I got socks and T1 got socks. T2 is not interested in buying anything. One of them picked up some Simpsons socks but they were TWENTY-SEVEN QUID for one pair. I'm pleased with the socks I did get, they were like five quid. Clare thinks I have gone on about this sock shop too much, and then after I told her all about it T1 said all the same things.
We went home for a cup of tea and to put on our new socks, then a light snacky tea and then I abandoned my family again to go into Fareham. I met up with Dave again, and this time Chris too who had mixed up the days otherwise he would have come out the night before. We went to the West Street Alehouse, which is always great. Again an early close. Turned down the opportunity to tick off more pubs to go back to Dave's new house to see it. We stopped at a kebab van on the way and then played some pool in his cabin summerhouse type thing. Incredible scenes.
Another long walk home, and this time I did have an early start to look forward to.
Febrewery so far then, twenty-three pubs in seventeen days:
Thinking now I should strike Bounce from the list, it is a bar, but it is not a pub. I did include Namco Fun Station and probably Puttshack last time I did this though.
