Blog2022 ≫ Good day yesterday but no parkrun

I voluntarily passed up on parkrun yesterday, don't do this very often. Not because I was away, not because I was ill, just because I wanted a bit more sleep. So a lazy start to the day.

Had been out the night before, straight out of work at five and got a lift to Folkestone and we went in Chambers for the first time in years. It's really good still, they had a club night lined up with three bands playing. We heard them soundchecking but left before we got thrown out for not having tickets. They have lockers in Chambers now, which seems odd, you can get a locker for the night for £5. To put your coat in or something? Might it get stolen otherwise? I liked the look of the lockers, I've always fancied that in the house, I like the look of old metal lockers lining a wall.

From Chambers to The Firkin Alehouse where I met someone I used to know from the Inn Doors, and he told me one of my friends had died. Turned out he just got the name wrong and it was another friend who I already knew had died ages ago. From there to The Bouverie Tap, from there to the kebab shop, then home via the Inn Doors, just in time for last orders.

Saturday daytime we went to Canterbury, a little bit of shopping and a lunch in Wagamama. Not at all on top of christmas. There was a christmas market, and we did a VR sleigh ride that was quite good. I don't think I'm getting anyone anything for christmas though this year, sorry.

A party last night at the Burlington Hotel. I had said in advance I might only stay an hour as I wouldn't know anyone there apart from the host and I could not monopolise him. But I had a great time and stayed until the end. It was a combined birthday and anniversary party, and the anniversary couple put their wedding outfits back and did their wedding dance. This was very entertaining, as they started with Wonderful Tonight, and then the record scratched and jumped - oh dear has something gone wrong? No, it merged into Gangnam Style and they had choreographed a routine to it, which they did with their kids. Very good.

Today, jobs mostly. I tried to put the new combi microwave air fryer in, and it's too big for the kitchen so it has to go back. This means I have to go to Currys to get just a simple microwave tomorrow. I can't have nice things. In trying to make more space in the house I cleared out some cupboard and threw away most of the hoarded baking ingredients, bags of flour and things. I only threw away those that were out of date, but that was nearly all of them. One thing was ten years out of date.

T2 baked a cake this afternoon, with all new ingredients. I think I'm going to just throw the leftover ingredients away now, instead of putting it off for a decade. T1 and I watched the football. I have Ecuador in the sweepstake, so I'm wondering if I can cash-in already... Seems odd that half the audience seem to have left at half time, though the result was pretty much settled before that.
