Blog2022 ≫ 288300 households joined us in the Octopus eco-hour

I'm sure they're calling it something different, but yesterday we did the eco-hour, where we turned everything off in the peak hour of usage, from five to 6pm. We played card games, I think I said this yesterday. I can see my energy usage, and you can on the graph on this page probably, and you can see the peak hour from the vaguely pink smear on the graph. I don't have the results in yet if we saved anything or won anything, but I do know we did our bit to not use electricity at the peak time, and 288300 other households joined us.

I think this is going to be expanded to "can you turn the power off between 4pm and 7pm please? and if you can't, then everyone's power is going to start going off". We could push our dinner back to start cookign at 6pm, any later than that is going to be hard. But we'll see what we can do.

Weather a shocker out there today. I went for a bit of a walk after tea, got very wet. Have hung my trousers up so hopefully I can wear them to London tomorrow, as I'm going in to work on the early train. I put our heating on this morning, just for half hour or so probably, just so the towels have a chance of drying and the place doesn't get damp. I will give it a little blast first thing in the morning when it's cold enough, say below twenty degrees.

Work still very busy. We're coming to the end of this "hard freeze" week, which means a frantic scrabble round for all the things I said "I'll do that at the end of the hard freeze", so will be busy again tomorrow.

We had parents evenings for T2 today, they're very pleased with him. It was all online, so we could both easily do it.

Starting to make plans for a trip to London, staying over in Kensington in December with some friends, in an AirBnB.

Looks like I was at David Devant this day in 1996, down The Joiners in Southampton. Looks like November was always prime gigging time for Devant.

Right, curry for tea, then early to bed to be on the 6.30 train and hopefully get the free parking... I definitely won't sit up all night trying to get the most out of my acorn.tv trial. We just signed up as they have some cheesy crime dramas we wanted to watch and they don't seem to be available anywhere else.
