Feeling a lot better today, which is handy, because I have had to get up early and trek into London. Alarm set for 5:45, so I went to bed early, basically the same time as the kids. Before this we watched about half of the Marvel film Thor: Love And Thunder. Whole lot of Guns'n'Roses references running through it, I wonder if there will be some sort of callback at the end of the film? It makes less sense so far than a "normal" Marvel movie. There's no way Clare would have watched this, but she was on a late shift, she did not wake me when she came in, I must have been tired.
Thing one is better too, he should be back at school really. I still have this cough, but am feeling ok apart from that. Thing two also did a covid test today, he's been asking for days as he wants some time off. He does not have covid.
Train in was quieter than usual and London seemed quieter too. I think people are staying away because of the chaos of queueing around the queen's lying in state, and prep for the funeral on Monday. People are queueing for miles and miles just to walk past the coffin, it is crazy. I know it is a once in a lifetime thing, but it's not a once in a lifetime good thing, what are you doing?? I will try to enjoy the extra bank holiday on Monday, though there is actually nothing to do, everything is closed, and Clare is having to work.
I had "Tempeh Man" for lunch, this was half coconut curry and half a sort of goulash cumin stew, with rice and flatbread. Obviously all vegan, very good. I think we're having takeaway for tea too, pizza when I get in, from Roka in Sandgate. What treats.
Twenty-two years ago today I was at Green Day at Kings College. Think it was some cheeky sort of gig, invite only? I went with Channelfly who I had just joined, maybe that day, when they bought Popex. I remember it rained heavily, and I remember Green Day pulling some people out of the crowd and handing over their instruments for them to play.
