Blog2022 ≫ Did not sleep so well

Boys stayed round Grandpa's last night, as Clare and I were both off early to work today, and they're still not back at school. They're very happy with this set up. I took them round after dinner, then I was tired by the time I came back and felt ready for bed. A quick flap as I realised I had messed up one of my train tickets for today and needed to collect it from the station, but in the end decided to just blag it this morning. Clare and I watched a Simon Reeve travel programme, sort of repeat, revisiting places he had been, but only adding extra commentary on to existing filming. Still we like travel programmes, we want to go on holiday again. Then I watched the final Better Call Saul, really really good. Then I watched a few minutes of episode one of Better Call Saul again and it was great to see how they'd linked back from the end of series six to the very opening of series one. I broke my early start of "not drinking in September" that I had started early on 30th of August by opening some wine, but I think it starts in earnest today. Not drinking at home at least, if my friends are free to go out tomorrow I am keen to catch up with them. "Not drinking in September" doesn't really have a name yet, maybe reset-tember?

Not sure if turning off the mini-fridge has had a cost saving yet. Our energy monitor was on 70p when I got up this morning, and it's not usually as high as that on a normal day according to my graph. But I know my graph and the reading off the energy monitor are often different, and the very act of getting up and showering and making tea earlier uses more energy, so I have to let this run for a week and compare like for like.

Collecting the ticket this morning was fine. The station and train were quieter, I had a choice of free parking spaces and there were plenty of spare double seats. And I didn't lock the keys in the beetle, which is a bonus.
