Blog2022 ≫ Holiday countdown

Four days from now1, from the point I am writing this, I will need to be in bed. It's nine, and if it's nine on Friday then I'll have nine hours before my coach goes, to take me to London and start my holiday. I've taken a little lull from planning the trip and lining up my packing. I'm going to end up leaving it all to the very last minute, after six months of thinking about it.

Went to a different pub yesterday, to The Royal Norfolk Hotel. I heard this was the new place to go on a Sunday, as the Inn Doors was not open, and about half a dozen friends were in there. We all walked down there and Clare and the boys stayed for one and I stayed for two more after that. Nice spot sitting in their small garden, at least they have an outside space. As with the Inn Doors it's a shame to be so close to the sea but not actualy be able to see it. Shame the beer is not better there, no real ale. Oh and it's five quid a pint. I like the place, but it could be better.

Today work very busy, sort of got some things done, solved a couple of problems, and got to show off some of my new work. I have written something that automates a regular job that I've been having to do, while waiting for the "proper" solution to come along. It's going to start annoying people I think as it's just doing one part of the job a lot quicker, meaning the next part of the process becomes a bit of a backlog. Next stop automate that bit.

Hot again today, and hey, getting hotter later this week. Another actual heatwave. I can't try getting out of going to London for work because of being on a train in hot weather if I'm then going to say I'm going to Rome by train the next day. While I went out for a walk after tea one of the boys seems to have finished a tub of vegan Ben and Jerry's ice cream that I'd had my eye on, and the other has made himself a hot chocolate. Did I say it's hot?
