Blog2022 ≫ Get Borexit done

On the day that ridiculous and dangerous man finally resigned let's remember five awful things he did recently that led to his downfall. That's not even the worst things he's done, but it's some of the things he's having to face up to. No mention there of the secret meeting with the ex KGB agent, all the times he lied and lied, including the lies that got us into the whole brexit mess. He can't fall far enough for my liking. I don't suppose his story is over though, he's still in 10 Downing Street right now. No doubt his wife is trying to scrape off the new gold wallpaper they had installed only last year.

boris johnson finally resigns on the cover of the London Evening Standard

I'm tired again. Been in London all day, so up early for that. Was at a Tesco conference day at The Brewery, Chiswell street. I remembered it when I got there, it was one of the FOWA's. The food was good, I had vegan shwarma, and some "power balls", and a salad with vegan feta. The best of the talks were from a couple of guest speakers "reluctant futurologists" The Futurenauts1. They certainly did not give Tesco an easy ride. There was a Q&A at the end of the day, and all the presubmitted questions were along the lines of "what are you thinking making us come in two days a week now?". The directors weren't shifting on this point, so I wonder what will happen. One of the Futurenauts stepped in and said "I think the issue is it seems like you don't trust your employees to do the right thing" and it got a round of applause. We left promptly at the end to get the train home, forgoing the champagne and Pimms being offered in the courtyard after. What have I become??? It was partly wanting to get the train, partly I am not drinking in the week, and partly not wanting to get home too late.

I'm tired, like I said, and I have to be up super early again in the morning to take thing two to school at half six so he can go on a school trip. Then another full day of work (though should be an interesting one) and then hopefully to the Inn Doors at the end of the day for the first time in AGES. I've not been there for an actual beer for maybe five weeks?

Saturday we're going to Canterbury I think, then Sunday I am off to Prague. I'm not as excited about it as I should be - I haven't travelled anywhere for ages, and it's all on expenses - but I could do without my weekend being eaten into, and could do without flying.

Oh, more excitement for the day, I got on the Elizabeth Line for the first time. We changed at Stratford and got the Elizabeth Line to Liverpool Street, and walked to the venue from there. I don't think our tickets were actually valid for this. I made it there, they were too busy and just let me through the barrier. On the way back there was no ticket barrier at that end but by the time I got to Stratford my ticket wasn't valid. I could show it was still on my account, but it appeared expired on my stupid card ticket thing. I expect something went wrong and it marked my return ticket as "used" this morning. I'm sticking with Kings Cross St Pancras and walking from now on.

Quarter past eight, time for bed.
