The Daily hate-mail is to turn on Boris Johnson1

Long regarded as a dormant volcano, the Daily Mail proprietor Lord Rothermere has erupted. Mandrake is reliably informed he has told his editors – and his editor-in-chief Paul Dacre – that he believes his national titles have “lost all touch” with what their readers are thinking about Boris Johnson.

I am told tomorrow’s Mail on Sunday will make it abundantly clear it no longer has confidence in Johnson. The language will be strong and the change of tone and direction dramatic. It will send shock waves through Downing Street and the Conservative party and make a leadership challenge this year all the more likely.

And it does seem to be true, hate-mail on Sunday is attacking Johnson today. Keep it up!

Also interesting, and definitely true it is actually quite hard to lose your Duolingo streak2. A "streak" is an unbroken run of days when you used the app to do your foreign language practice. I'm on 700+ days now3 and I'm still going back each day. Do I get a benefit from using it each day? Why am I interested in maintaining a streak? Is it actually of benefit to me? It's not actually of much benefit to them as my ad blocker sees to that, but sometimes one slips through, when I'm on the train. I don't think I'll be able to let go of my streak, though I know the game is playing me now.
