Blog2022 ≫ Sports day

Busy work day, well the day of lots of meetings, but I still found some time to go to thing two's sports day. I missed the first part of it, which I thought was going to be the "carousel" they do, lots of little bean bag related activities as a warm up, but was actually the running races. I nearly missed all of it, by going to the wrong venue actually. It was not on the normal field but at Three Hills sports centre. I made it to the right place, met Clare there, and only got to see the carousel part. They'd done the running outside on the track with half of the school, and then swapped over so they could take turns. It meant they could be out of the sun for half the time too, it was a very hot day again. It definitely tired him out, he fell asleep when he got back to school and has been in a very tired grump ever since.

I worked late to make up for this, and then a bit later still to make up for going to get ice creams to cheer the little one up. Didn't work.

Clare went out with work friends for someone's leaving do, and just phoned for a lift home. OK, I can come and get you but I'm bringing thing two, so is it just you, will there be room in the car? Can I give a lift to three others too? No because I'll have thing two in the car. Yeah maybe you should get taxi. That has not gone down too well. Not sure I would have left him here even if he was 100%.

I have had Clare give me a lift to the pub, and left them both here in the past. Was I being a hypocrite? Probably.

Looks like seventeen years ago we went to see Queen, sort of, at Brixton Academy. Not the version of Queen that is now, nor the version of Queen, but the inbetween one with Paul Rodgers out of Free and Bad Company.

Got my phone number back. When I first signed up to Tesco mobile it turns out they did not make any attempt to transfer my old number, but the support person I spoke to was able to do it for me in twenty-four hours, so all is ok now.

Still not drinking, maybe this is what is making me so fair and reasonable.
