Blog2022 ≫ Booked another part of my grand eurotrip, nearly done now

I have changed my plans and booked another leg of my journey, nearly done now. Booked a sleeper train from Vienna to Cologne, so will be forgoing Zurich entirely. This does mean a) I get another sleeper train, b) I don't have to get to Zurich, it's not as easy, c) I don't have to find accodation in Zurich which was looking more expensive, d) did I say I get another sleeper train??? This is what I really wanted to do. I have a couchette this time so probably not much actual sleep. I will take earplugs and all that.

I have seen a "pod hostel" in Vienna that I like the look of, and by going there via Germany instead of Switzerland I am less rushed, have more time there, even actually enough time to get another train over the border into Slovakia. Will see what the delights of Vienna can offer me first though and not book that bit in advance. So the transport is all booked, except for my train to London in the first place. No advantage in booking that and it gives me some flexibility right at the beginning. So plan right now is;

There are British Airways or Heathrow strikes planned around this time, no idea what will happen if the family get held up and struggle to join me.

It's going to come around quite soon, but I have a busy time before that including that trip to Prague.

I think I already said we went swimming yesterday, and played some board games instead of watching TV last night. I made them sort-of-fajitas and they didn't realy like it. Then thing two absolutely did me over in a game of Scrabble. We might be playing that again, he loved it.

There's the school boot fair on today, I could not go and help as usual because Clare was off to work. The boys are hugely against the idea of even attending. Thing one not even out of bed yet. I will do laundry and light DIY, make a dinner for tomorrow and finish off this travel booking.

Heard from Jules who is traveling to USA with his family. He had a bad start with plane cancelled and so missed connection. Then next thing

Currently in a Target 1 hour outside San Francisco. Interesting start to hols…

Lost half their luggage and the delay meant the car hire was closed so they had to find an airport hotel. Holiday hopefully back on track now though!

Watched a load of Glastonbury on TV later, though seemed to keep catching repeats. Have seen half of Paul McCartney, will watch the later half (with some guest performances apparently!) later with Clare. It just got too late for me. I particularly enjoyed Blossoms, and quite liked Inhaler. I don't like the presenters this year, shame about Lauren Laverne dropping out.

I mentioned all those 1990s Glastonbury festivals the other day, but now looking at the lineups I can confirm I was there in 2000, 2002, and 2003 too. Think that must have been my last one.
