Blog2022 ≫ Hottest day of the year?

Hottest day of the year today apparently, though I think that's in certain parts of the country, mostly London. It's certainly lovely here but not unbearably hot. I'm doing a support day today at work so I can't really go out at lunch unless I get cover. And everyone is on holiday, which is why I'm doing the support day anyway, so not much chance of that. I will go for a nice stroll at the end of the day.

Thing two has a "break the rules day" at school today, he was very excited about that. For a small fee he's been able to wear his own clothes, take Emu in, take an extra playtime snack, call his teacher by her first name, and also have the teacher call him by an alternative name. He has opted for "Never Gonna Give You Up" as his name for the day, will see how that goes. At least he did not choose "Your Mum"1.

I am just about recovered from the weekend's running. I have had sore legs and feet all week and thought I would not even be doing parkrun this week, but am back to normal now. Will do parkrun in the morning, then am free for the rest of the day, so maybe a longer run. Weather is not supposed to be as good, but at least I have the time. I have less time on the Sunday, as we are going to the cinema as a fathers day treat. Not my treat quite so much, I don't even want to see Top Gun, but Clare has put it to her dad. There is an outside chance that thing two and I will see Jurassic Park instead and meet up after for a Frankie And Bennys, or maybe they'll all watch Top Gun and I'll just run again. Can't see me doing a long run twice, but we'll have it all figured out by tomorrow.

Saw Mansun twenty-six years ago today, at The Joiners. I thought they were a big deal for a while, but they do not have much of a legacy. I loved the first single. I have the vinyl, I will play it again when I finally choose myself a turntable and clear some space so I have somewhere to put a turntable. Oh, and I think I need to buy a new Sonos thing in order to play music from the turntable through my speakers...

Also twenty-five years ago about now we were heading off to a disastrous Glastonbury. It was the terrible weather / no tent combo. All felt a bit last minute heading down there, but how can going to Glastonbury be last minute? I would be planning something like that a year in advance these days. And there is an actual Glastonbury this year, is it next weekend? It has the potential to be a great one, I heard in popbitch today the rumours of secret sets by Green Day, Arcade Fire, and Chemical Brothers - actual acts I have actually heard of. Let alone a headline slot from Paul McCartney. I don't suppose I'll ever go again now.

Still not drinking.
