Blog2022 ≫ Wildlife day

I called a mouse man. He says it's definitely mice, not rats, which is a bonus. He has had a stern talking to the mice and they won't be back. He needs to come back again next week and the week after to check on some things he has left under the kitchen cabinets. I expect it is little mouse notices saying "remember you promised not to come back". I kept one mouse that I caught in the trap for him to see, and confirm it was a mouse, and not a tiny rat, and he did. After he'd gone, thing two and I walked to the canal, a lot further this time, about a kilometre, to drop him off. The mouse, not the man. On the way there and back we saw A LOT more wildlife, including cygnets on the canal, baby blue tits, lots of fish that seemed to be basking in the sun, and some finches. Lovely when it's not in your house.

Think we're going to Stratford for the day on the bank holiday Thursday now, as I could only book Ashford swimming (Stour Centre, with water slides) for the Friday). This means I am free to do a parkrun Saturday morning. Folkestone parkrun is cancelled but Ashford is on, so I'm thinking of going there and being a bit of a tourist. I expect it'll be a busy one there as it is the next nearest. Then at some point we will be invited to Clare's bro's over the weekend. Not actually planning any pubbing yet but I will see. Thinking of doing "dry june-uary" as a challenge for this month, but also trying to do a longer run, of 20km. Start building up a bit. I basically have to do it this long weekend or it won't get done, so maybe Saturday when I get back from Ashford, or Sunday. Shouldn't be a problem.

Interesting news about Boris and Carrie Johnson having another party at 10 Downing Street (or is it actually 11 Downing Street?), which has not yet been covered. She seems to have disappeared slightly. She has left him hasn't she. He's on his way out now for sure.

Why can't I find a giant Sex Pistols God Save The Queen flag for the front of my house? Is the man suppressing them? Or are they all sold out?
