Blog2022 ≫ Getting things done

Productive day, getting things done. I have captured another little mousey fella, he is still inside the non lethal trap, which is outside in the garden right now. I'm hanging on to him for a bit because I have also called a company to come and fix this. It doesn't feel very vegan. I have kept this prisoner-of-war in case it helps the mouseterminator figure out what is going on1. So anyway, that is two jobs. 1) capture the mouse 2) call a man to come and have a stern word with the mouse and tell him not to come back. I'm sure that's it.

Other jobs, I paid the balance of the holiday today, so that is happening. I still have not booked my train tickets or hotel rooms or anything. It will be fine. Maybe next month.

I did buy a laminator2 though, and order some special dice, so my birthday day out fun and games is definitely happening.

Yet another task, we went and watered the school garden today. They planted a load of flowers and herbs and things on Friday and I volunteered to go down and water them while they're off on half term. Thing one has been out with a friend, and thing two has been here playing video games nearly all day, so I dragged him down there to do this.

On top of all this I've had a full day at work.

Fancy that, the mail on sunday's big headline this week was a lie. They claim that we can finally have the crown back on pint glasses that the EU made us remove. BBC investigates and quickly finds it is not true:

But the European Commission has rejected the idea that EU rules stopped the UK from having the crown stamp on glasses as well.

A spokesperson told us: "EU law does not prevent markings from being placed on products, so long as it does not overlap or be confused with the CE mark."

It is not really their fault, it is the government who are claiming thay this is a key achievement of brexit. Brexit has achieved nothing positive, so they have to wheel out nonsense like this.

Just ALL of those "can you believe what barmy brussels are making us do now??" is nonsense. All their stories are intended only to stir up fear and mistrust and jingoism, whether is fear of the EU, fear of asylum seekers, fear of socially responsible councils, it is a poisonous rag.

I seem to have attached an image to this post, why did I do that?

My DIY lightswitches

Ah yes because I saw a new lightswitch2, it looks like it would do all the right things in my house. It is Zigbee and programmable and multifunctional and it looks good, better than my own stick-a-remote-to-the-wall solution. But at over fifty quid a go it's a bit expensive to a) kit out the bouse and b) even experiment with...

TWENTY-SEVEN years ago today I was at a Stereolab gig. They still feel so modern.
