Blog ≫ 2022 ≫ Bonus day in London
Well, I was in London today, for work. Not really a bonus like normally having to go to work and then not going. This one was a bit different though. There was an "away day", generating ideas for another team, and I was one of a few guests invited, even though I'm not in that team. We had some fun activities, including making tiramisu, and then we did a complicated framework of coming up with ideas for the company in future. I had to present our tiramisu back to everyone else, sell it to them, show what made it different from all the others. It was all vegan, and didn't really have the same ingredients as a normal tiramisu. We made it with the provided coffee, and I don't think it was very good. Also it had vegan cream cheese in it, should a tiramisu have that? Also digestive biscuits instead of sponge fingers. It was a cheese cake really, and not a very good one at that. I made a bit of a joke of the presentation and it went down well, maybe I should do stand up comedy.
I went in early, and did get the free parking space at Folkestone West station. There's loads of it if I get the 7.30 train.
At the end of the day I noticed I had two missed calls, one from the school. Did something go wrong with grandpa collecting thing two today? Was he still at a cold dark school waiting for me? Luckily no, but nearly as neglectful, there was no school lunch booked for him today, nor any day this week. Luckily they had a spare today (even though it was not something he liked) and he can have sandwiches for the rest of the week until we book him back in. We used to get reminders from the school lunch people to say our pre-booked lunches were running out but seemingly not now.
Now, can I count that London day as my office day for this week? It was not actually in the office, it was in Shepherds Bush instead. I did see several of the people from other teams that I work with, so maybe.
Popular historic day for gigs for me, Atom Seed this day in 1991, Zodiac Mindwarp in 1992, Sultans Of Ping in 1995 and Ash in 1996. I really liked them all.
