Bonus payment, sounds good, right? Oh noes, it is me having to make the payment.
There is a wall falling down on our "estate", and we are liable for maintenance and things apparently. It's the "crib wall" which turns some of the hill into flat levels that you can build on. I would probably have not thought much of it until the bill came in, but a group of residents are banding together to ask questions about it.
People in the houses affected by the wall have had a survey done themselves and had it confirmed this wall was never fit for purpose. There are questions to be answered why there's no insurance for this I think, and why the job was done so badly to start with. The original contractor has long since gone bust, and we have no claim under the NHBC guarantee as this forms part of the landscaping apparently. Even though it seems without this wall some of the houses will fall down.
It's going to cost me a load of money either way I think, thousands each for the rebuilding of the wall, or a load into a legal fund to fight this. I'm not sure who we'd be fighting against. I guess forcing the managing agents to claim on their insurance or something.
Work very busy today again, we're at the final knockings of this project and there are some things not quite working. Not my fault but I am bravely shouldering the responsibility...
At least we're not at war with Russia yet.
