Blog ā‰« 2022 ā‰« Secret recliner action

Had a nice relaxing day yesterday. After the parkrun I took the boys to Grandpa's for the day, then went to Tesco on the way back. I was still in my running gear, so did not have my clubcard, and I'd done a fairly significant shop of treats, inclding wine and beer . Was well worth going back again with my receipts, I got cash back for my clubcard savings and my staff discount. Then Clare drove us into Hythe, we looked a bit for cushions for the lounge, but it was a long shot, there is not a lot in Hythe. She came back, I went on for a haircut. Very busy in there, quite a queue. Someone had left some copies of a mad anti-vaxxer newspaper in there, an actual paper.

I had a look in The Chair Lady, opposite the barbers. This is one of the places1 that first gave me the idea of getting an old mismatching chair and getting it recovered to match our room. Obviously I did not do that, I maybe should have done. Would be hard to get this one recovered or customised to match better now as it's so damn heavy, I'd struggle to get it out of the house again in one piece. I wondered if she might make cushions to order, but it was closed. I will have to get Clare to look properly.

This is The Chair Lady shop. If you unfocus your eyes you can see a strange hooded ghost in there...

Looking in the window of The Chair Lady

I looked in The Coaching Inn, where we had cocktails last week, and was pleased to see it was busy. I was heading to The Potting Shed for a post haircut pint, but it was closed! Stupid unreliable micropubs... The Inn Doors is closed all month, and now The Potting Shed has taken a holiday for a week. I took a chance on The Bell instead, as it was the next one on the way home. It can be good, it should be good, but it has been unreliable. It was very busy, a big party in from the golf club, which made it lively. They were showing The Rugby so I had a couple there and then headed home after the first half of the Ireland / France game. A good game really, as far as I can tell, though France were leading from the opening minutes.

What about this secret reclining action I hear you ask? When I relaxed in my chair again later2 to watch Death In Paradise I found there are two levels of reclining, normal, but then push it back again and it goes nearly flat. I could sleep in this.
