Less than a week to go - FOR BORIS JOHNSON HOPEFULLY!!! Oh, I already did that one. Good that the police are now looking into the endless law breaking partying that seems to have gone on at Downing Street over the last two years, but surely nothing will come of it. It's only right and fair when members of the public were fined for having small gatherings at this time, when we were all trying to stop the spread of coronavirus, and these guys believed they were above all the rules.

I did my whole 5km before starting work today, but I'm a bit behind on the pushups. Still ahead of the game, just behind for today.

I have agreed to do a week of "on call" at work. This means being available 24/7 and not more than half an hour away from my computer. Presumably means being not drunk too though it doesn't say that explicitly. It's in the week when I can't go to the pub anyway because of Clare's work, so could be OK. It will pay for my chair, and the chair might even be available by then. I got a stock update from IKEA to say it would be due in at Lakeside at least.

Thinking more about holidays. Have not agreed an actual place for the holiday, as I want the boys to engage with this a bit, but definitely Europe, quite possibly Italy. Been watching videos of other people who've done it by train. Seems I can do a nice scenic route to Austria via Switzerland1 over one day, and then down through Italy after that. By my reckonning I have a four day gap betwen our actual anniversary and the holiday starting properly, how far can I travel overland in four days? If I go via London on the Friday night (which makes sense) I can do a London Parkrun on the Saturday morning before I too I think... This is taking up my every waking thought at the moment. It's going to be great. I might start packing.

Lots of gig anniversaries today, January was a good time for gigs it seems. On this day in previous years Beta Band, Catatonia, Stereophonics, Phoenix (the band, not the festival). The only pleasingly round anniversary is precisely twenty years ago today, Jimmy Eat World. Been listening to them more these days than I did back then I think, because of Radio X.
