Blog2021 ≫ To beetle or not to beetle?

The beetle battery was on charge all day yesterday. Tried to start it today but no joy. A little light on the dash, but won't turn over. I got my little battery starter and tried that too, and it did try, but it sounds like something might be seized. There's so much wrong with that poor car now it seems like it would be a kindness to put it down, like Tommy Shelby did with his race horse in the episode of Peaky Blinders I watched yesterday. One last chance, I tried OG Buswerks again. I would have to get it trailered there, and it's clearly good money after bad, but is it worth one more round..? He's booked up until after christmas now but he says don't write it off, let's keep it going. What to do with it in the mean time though? Clare wants it off the drive. First frosty day, when she has an early start, she's going to get me out there clearing the ice off the other car before she goes to work.

Another angle to this situation is I now have to get a taxi to the station in the morning. At least it is offset against the £5.30 costs of parking at the station.

There are bids on my LightwaveRF items what I am selling. The total combined bidding so far is the cost of one taxi ride to the station.

Ooh there are confirmed coronavirus cases at thing two's school, the primary school.

Dear Parents/carers,

We have been advised by Public Health England to inform you that there have been some confirmed cases of COVID-19 within our school setting.

We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England. This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child. Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

Our school setting remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well. We encourage household members that are aged 11 and over to continue with twice weekly LFD testing to help identify cases promptly.

NHS Test and Trace will contact you to let you know if you have been identified as a contact and check whether you are legally required to self-isolate. If you are not legally required to self-isolate, you will be provided with advice on testing and given guidance on preventing the spread of COVID-19. Even if you do not have symptoms, you will be advised to have a PCR test as soon as possible.

Can I use that to get out of going to London tomorrow? I have already bought my train ticket, but if I have to isolate... waiting to hear.

Today in 2003 Stellastarr who I really liked. Today in 1992 Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis, and going right back to 1990 Snuff in Winchester. Didn't go to many gigs in Winchester!
