Blog โ‰ซ 2021 โ‰ซ Very disloyal today

  1. I went back to my old company today
  2. On the way back I went in Sainsbury to get some lunch

Got an email yesterday from Holiday Extras about the shares. When I left there is a condition that the company gets to buy back all my shares at the current market rate. The shares were doing very well, and as they're not publicly listed the value doesn't change very often. There was some small print, the company will buy them back at their convenience, and it was not convenient to buy them back off me at that rate, when all bookings and income had gone to zero. I expected a couple of months if rearranging things then a "ah sorry, the shares are worth zero, we will buy them back now". But no. Exactly a year after I finally left, a letter to say "shares are worth a bit less but we'll buy them now". It's still a significant amount, when I had written that off. I had to sign a form, so I took it in today, and I should have the money in December. I got confirmation too that my other shares (that I sold in the management buy out but got a promise of staggered payment that is accruing interest) is coming soon too. They hit some sort of penalty clause and the interest rate goes up, so they're keen to pay that one back. It has really worked out very well for me.

My stonks generally have done well this week too. I'm down a bit today but they've been on the rise for weeks so I'm generally about 10% up.

I drove to the old work at lunch today, just about. The beetle was on the drive and the handbrake had fully seized on, must be all the rain we had. Still got there in the end.

I panicked and told Clare there was money coming in, instead of just keeping quiet about it, doh!

Ah yeah lots to update today, we booked a holiday yesterday. We worked out our trip to Cologne and Brussels was not doable, because they will not allow kids in without vaccine passports, and in the UK we do not have vaccine passports. So we are cancelling that (I hope I paid in advance and will be due some money back) and have booked a trip to Zurich, Switzerland instead. I have struggled with the morals, we cannot go by train, so we are flying. In the middle of an eco-disaster like this! I am vegan though and that is worth A LOT, I'm allowed a flight. A short haul one at that. Next holiday will be by train, when we're allowed again. Same dates, same christmas market, same... wait a minute "the most expensive city in Europe"? You didn't tell me that before we booked it!

Oh wow yesterday was not only my first anniversary of working at Tesco, but the THIRTY-SECOND anniversary of that Motley Crue gig at Wembley Arena. With Lemmy as a special guest. I partly went because I loved the support act Skid Row and partly because lots of friends were going, but now I like Motley Crue more.

Still very busy at work work.
