I bought those new Habitat Radius side tables to complement our new sofa, and they were supposed to be delivered today I thought. I went for the cheaper delivery option which meant they could not guarantee a timeslot but I'm sure it should have been today. Maybe they deliver up until 7pm? Or maybe I only dreamt buying new stuff.
Ah no just checked, it's coming next Tuesday. I have a week to make space.
Isn't it a mad coincidence that we're having food and fuel shortages now after Brexit, when "project fear" spent all that time saying there would be food and fuel shortages after Brexit? I wish I had stockpiled CO2. How can you even do that? In bags?
I think I actually have limited exposure to them. I'm not saying it makes me better than you, I'm just saying.
Food grade CO2 is used in hundreds of products.
It is used:
- to carbonate water, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks
- to dispense drinks and beers in pubs
- to promote the growth of plants - such as cucumbers - in greenhouses
- to stun pigs and chickens before slaughter
- for packaging meats, baby foods, fresh foods and baked products (CO2 extends shelf life by preventing bacteria)
- to keep food fresh in transport (CO2 is used in the form of dry ice and snow)
If I can just reduce my dependency on cucumbers I could be completely CO2 free. CO2 might be used "to dispense drinks and beers in pubs", but not my beer, and not my pubs. Real Ale for the win! I have never knowingly had a soft drink, and I rearely stun pigs and chickens.
Ooh a year ago today I got this Tesco job, and my life changed forever. I didn't start until November, because I was still working out my notice (ahem, working, gardening leave following furlough, a very nice time off) but I got the job this day in 2020. Work is still chocka, and I have a cold. I'm just about struggling on but won't go into the office tomorrow. People who bring germs into confined office spaces are the worst.
