We headed to Portchester on Friday morning, to make the most of my last day off. Missed a train connection on the way there which took the edge off the journey. And then also we realised we should have just gone there direct from our London trip and not gone home first. Still, done now.
Started off with a visit to Kez' new house, saw the nephew and all his awesome gadgets. The boys are quite keen on the idea of an Oculus Rift 1 now, they liked playing on that, but it would be a huge investment and I don't think you'd keep using it after the novelty wore off.
I had too much to drink on the Friday, a semi spontaneous night out at the Delme with Andy. If I'd only stayed for a couple as I originally planned it would have been fine but we didn't get home until 2am somehow.
Saturday morning to everyone's surprise I was up and out for Parkrun, my first one back in eighteen months or so. And it was a good one for me, 23'10, way off my best but a good point to restart.
In the afternoon we had a lovely walk around Portchester Castle, really nice day for that and the rain just kept off. I went straight from there to the pub again, walking back into Fareham (I did that route a lot this weekend) to meet a whole load of friends at West Street Ale House. Have not had that many of "our group" in one place since the last wedding I think. Very nice. We got some food in from Umami and went for a closing time one in the Wetherspoons after that. So nice to catch up with everyone.
This morning we went to Southsea for a VW show, surprising to see so many VW Beetles and VW Campers in one place. Saw some real interesting ones of all eras. No sign of our old van though, I'd love to see it again.
Train back, Clare picked us up, I got a Nine Dragons for tea, and all is good.
I will come back and write up more of our London trip I hope, but I am going to be so busy with work this week.
