Blog ≫ 2021 ≫ Some snow
Snow came in the night, and it looks like it's going to snow steadily for the next twenty-four hours. You can see it's not settling on the roads here, but further inland it is apparently. Clare wants me to take the car up to the top of the hill this afternoon, in case the hills (the only roads out of Seabrook) are too icy to drive up. So that will be our exercise for today!
Had a big old shop up yesterday with my Tesco discount card, and got thirty pounds off my bill. This was only really grazing shopping too, we already had all the food we need for the week. I went specially to get some Brewdog beers as they were discounted there anyway. I bought the last two cases they had, and they had to fetch those from the back. Apart from that not really sure what I bought. One bottle of wine, already drunk, some cider, some pizzas and other sweets and treats. I'm mostly resisting the urge still to spend all my pay, so as to stay on top of things for later in the month. The mortgage and the bills come out at the end of this pay cycle, so I just have to sit with the money in my account. It's like having money in my pockets that I know I shouldn't spend though... I have some IKEA things in my basket, but I might as well leave them until next month. If I have some DIY time (and it looks like I don't now this weekend, got some dinners to make and ironing to do) I have a monitor bracket to fit inside the bureau, so I can move the Sonos speakers into the bureau too, make things a little tidier. My friends are mocking the idea of having two speakers either side of the monitor, that that is an old fashioned way to set your computer up. I could maybe put them further apart, in opposite corners of the room for better sound. I still have that option in future but for now I want neat and tidy. Then more bureau related tasks, I want to get the folding desk surface properly repaired, and do the "fake books" idea to hide the monitor when it's not in use. I've been waiting for the print shop to be open again but I guess I could try printing my own at home as a trial run, now we have the printer.
I did buy a stack of books for the boys including Grandma Dangerous1, Rivers of London1, Chaos Walking1, and Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children1. Some of these a bit of a punt that friends recommended.
I've had a bit of a lazy weekend, did not take the opportunities to actually run outdoors in the daylight that I can't do in the week. Still haven't taken my new shoes out.
