Blog2021 ≫ Runuary day twenty-seven

I had to do today's 5km on the treadmill. The weather is better, a few degrees warmer, but I can't leave the house today. Clare was out at way too early as usual and will be home late as she has a fitness test after work. I'm sure she's going to ace it.

Bit of fun on the shares yesterday, just not my shares. There's a group on reddit.com1 that have been getting together and all buying the same shares, shares that some big time bankers have been short selling. Short selling is basically betting the price will fall, so the price goes down, you make money. If loads of other people buy, the price goes up. There are supposedly two million of them in this group, and they've grouped together to buy certain shares, including Gamestop, and AMC. I'm not sure how much success they were having, or if there were two million of them before Elon Musk got on board, but there are now. The stocks they've been grouping together to invest in have doubled this week, and everyone's making money. Except the professionals, who are short selling, they're losing a lot. So what happens now, the leaders of this Reddit group are the new powermongers?

There will be an announcement about Tesla today, will see what that will do to the share price. It will apparentlly make Elon Musk SEVEN BILLION DOLLARS in bonuses.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

Schools are not reopening too early. This is the first sensible move the government has made I think!

More NME Brats gig history for this day in 1997 and 1998, both the NME Brats awards ceremony. I went to ceremony one year, but the aftershow only the other year.

5k: Five km, just over three miles to you.
