Great response from On Running, I hope it's right. This sounds like extra cost an effort for them, which will ultimately lead to higher prices. For now I should only be paying the price I thought I was paying (indeed have already paid).

I just reached out to our warehouse regarding your order, and would like to share the following information.
As you may be aware, since January 1st there are new customs regulations for shipping parcels to the UK and every order now requires a commercial invoice as part of this process. Currently the invoices have to be created and attached to shipments manually and this takes some time.
The extra steps which have been temporarily added were set up to ensure all orders make it to the through the UK border without any extra customs cost to pay on your part.
On top of this process change, every parcel has to go through customs clearance when entering the UK, which can take a few extra days due to the current lockdown restrictions.
Not all parcels are affected by this but we can not guarantee which pass through un-checked.
According to UPS tracking information your parcel is scheduled be delivered on the 29th of January.
