Blog2020 ≫ This den is done!

A full day of DIY today, assembling the new bunk bed. It arrived in five boxes, five very heavy boxes, which I had to carry up to the top floor. In non coronavirus times the delivery guys would have done that bit.

Mostly unpacked and ready to go:

There is not really enough room to assemble this. You need to put the bottom bit together first, then the top bed (which is made so it could be lifted off and be a normal single bed again.

See the Google Home in shot there, it's not staying. I just moved it into this room to give me some music while I was working.

Then lift the bed onto the bottom bit, had to wait for Clare to get back to do this bit so she could steady it. Then the tricky part, assembling the desk area underneath. It was a proper wobbly house of cards for a while, quite tricky to line everything. It's all stable once everything is in though. And now the finished article, with bed made up high (it's about at my eye level), desk area below to the left, ladder and shelves in the middle, and a free area to the right. Room to play or to make into a den, or just store stuff.

Still work to do in this room, he wants different curtains and more lighting. It has the old LightwaveRF remote control lighting in there for now but I'll move it over to IKEA style instead. Then we can spruce the room up a bit for him I think, though he is VERY PLEASED with how it turned out already.

As you can see it's hard to take a picture of this as it kind of takes over this small room and you can't get far back enough to get it in. There's a big wardrobe in this room too. Might need a bit of a rejig.

The others started Lord Of The Rings1 without me, so instead of sitting down half way through it I'm updating this.

Bit knackered now, hope I sleep well. Then maybe up early to go for a run. Then my plan is to get up early every day and run, because of this challenge I've joined at work.
