Went to Ashford on Friday, for not much except a trip out, as thing one had a bonus day off school. We stopped at someone's house on the way to pick up my Hythe Hops beer. We had lunch at Pizza Express, and bought some little things for thing two's birthday from thing one. Looked at coats and bags and things, but nothing suitable.

When we got home I had a plan to go to The Potting Shed in Hythe for one and then back to the Inn Doors. Spoke to a friend and he was up for the pub but is a bit more cautious than me about the social distancing, so we settled on Hythe only. Then the rain properly came down, so I drove us there and abandoned the beetle. We had a good evening, taking in a few pubs and learning a few lessons.

First the Potting Shed, which was as nice as expected. I'd been in the night before while waiting for thing two's swimming, but tried a couple of different lighter ales, very nice.
Next an attempt at the White Hart, but it was too busy and we could not get a table.
So, on to The Carousel Lounge, just to see. Had a dreadful off beer, and some more dreadful more off conversation, so we left our pints and walked out. The landlord gracefully refunded our money without asking, so kudos for that, but not sure we'll be back.
Finally we braved The Bell. I did not like it at all for similar reasons to The Carousel Lounge, but this time it was a delight, so we will return.

We got salad and pitta in chips and I was home in time to watch Great British Bake Off An Extra Slice, and then The Last Leg too, a good TV combo.

Today we went back to Tin And Tap and all enjoyed it again. I had the same as last week, salad and dirty fries combo and even the same alcohol free beer. Finally dragged the boys into the library, and after the struggle to get them in there I could not get them to limit themselves to a reasonable number of books each. They are converted to the library, I hope we can find the time to get back there again soon enough to return everything.

I braved the wind and the drizzle to go to the Inn Doors briefly, had a very nice time with a few friends, then back here for tea time in order to tag Clare. She's out tonight, then we're all up early in the morning...
