Clare did some experimental cooking yesterday, falafels. I have tried to make them in the past and they just fell apart for me, but she had heard using soaked dried chickpeas would work, where tinned would not. It got a bit stressful, the first ones burned, how do you tell when the oil was hot enough? It was looking like a bad idea, so we decided to go to Luben for dinner instead. Then when we'd made up our minds the next few worked. I remembered you could test the oil with some brea. So very decadent in the end to decide still to go to Luben for pizza when we had a perfectly good dinner here. Very nice dinner though, I did the almost unthinkable and didn't order a pizza. I went for a salad, with a starter portion of the vegan meatballs, and it was delicious and almost too much to eat. The roast vegetable salad wasn't really that salady, it had roast potatoes and lots of crunch kale, very good. I stopped in the Inn Doors on the way there too, and then we were home to to watch a Midsomer Murders that neither of us remembered seeing before.
I had a run yesterday morning too, as Clare had energetically run to and from her pump class first thing. The weather was bad when I went out, I was running into the rain on my way out but had it easier on the way back.
I'm having falafel for lunch all week.
Both my gig anniversaries for today are comedy. This time last year we went to Rob Newman at the Quarterhouse, but twenty-two years ago today I went to Steve Coogan in London. I remember support was from Simon Pegg. He's in The Boys 1, that superhero thing I have been watching. He has an american accent in it and I don't like it.
I'm fixing some broken links on this site, there is some bad code in some of the really old posts. Hoping I can fix a lot of them automatically, still got 630 to do now.
Really might start some painting this week.
