The new router turned up today from Talk Talk. I plugged it in speculatively (estimated activation date for new internets were Friday) and it's all good. The speed is as high as was estimated, and as high as we can expect in this area. Ironically there have not been any complaints about lagging within games recently, I hope I am not wasting yet more money. The only way I can really tell it is improved is by running speed tests, which I did below. I get a download speed of 54 Mb/s and upload speed of 18.3 Mb/s. It's not the 300 Mb/s that some people get, if they live in an area with fibre to the door or live right by a cabinet but it's the best I can get. The latency is also lower, so there should be no more complaints about the gaming.
One problem is I've not been able to set up https://pi-hole.net yet on the new router, still looking into that...
