What could possibly go wrong?
The boys want to be in their own rooms again now but I think we need all the floor space we can manage, so I want a built in bunk in each room with room for desk etc underneath. Just buy one you say1 why no I'm getting someone round to quote for building it for me. Actually now I come to look at the prices of those things I think I am insane to do this. I have a thing in mind though. Partly it comes from how much I loved my built in bunk bed in our first house when I was about six, and partly from the bunk beds the boys had in Warwick Castle last week. Bunk beds that are not fitted are a bit wobbly and don't feel secure enough for two growing boys. If the cost is prohibitive then I guess we fall back to buying one of these1. Here is my design anyway, an artists impression if you will. First the room as it is now:
And then with the new design.
I'm thinking the sleeping platform should be slightly wider at one end, so not a true rectangle, to give a little bit of shelf space for water bottle, lamp, etc, but maybe there are better solutions to this. A hanging shelf off the side of the bed maybe?
Two gig anniversaries today, nineteen years ago today it was The Darkness at Uncle Bobs and twenty-three years ago an XFM thing at the Astoria. Oh and it was thing one's first day at grammar school today, well done the boy. He liked it so much he's going back again tomorrow.
I'll be back to update on the last part of our London and Warwick trip in a bit. I can write it and the rest of my productive day today up tonight, as Clare has gone out on the razzle dazzle.
