30° again today. I went out for an early run, and it was still way to hot. I half expected to be running past the debris of beach parties, but it looked reasonably tidy out there. Lots of rubbish dumped near the bins, which I suppose is people making half an effort.
Had my second redundancy consultation meeting this morning too. I moved it to first thing today so we're free to go out. Was just a formality, nice and quick. I will get furlough pay this month, then three months of full pay, then redundancy pay with the third and final full payment. I won't get back all my share money immediately, it will be when the company can afford it. This could take years, but I'll keep earning better than bank interest on it until I do get it back so that's not bad. My plan was always to get that money back in installments, use it to pay for holidays, then quit when the shares were paid back. I'm doing it in a different order now, so the redundancy money is a bonus really. I did see myself staying there for another three to five years, but I can't sign the new contract. I hope the job market for engineers is as good as people say...
We went to The Ship last night after tea, and sat outside playing card games. It felt rough and binnish, not at all a comfortable spot, but Clare says I'm just biased against that pub.
Off to Ashford today to buy school shoes, and maybe running shorts. We're hoping to get a bargain lunch with the "eat out to help out" 50% off deal, but it's down to a) where is still open (we think Pizza Express and Wagamama are) and b) where we can get in.
