Blog2020 ≫ Hot run

Seriously thought about not running today, as we stayed up quite late finishing some "can you name these sweets and chocolates from the cryptic clues" quiz. But made the boys some breakfast and had a cup of tea and felt up to dragging myself out. And it's amazing out there, so hot and sunny. There are queues outside all the cafes in Sandgate and paddle boards and canoes and even swimmers in the sea already. Going to be a good day here. Hope it is a good day for you if you are peacefully protesting somewhere. Unless you are the racists out to cause trouble at the other protests in which case I hope you fall in a drain.

I ran 5k in 22'44 today so heading back towards my proper form. I was not really pushing it but I think that is my best run since my cataract operations. I ran with music today instead of podcasts, maybe that helped.

I just found my old earbuds that I lost, they were in a shirt pocket. They're 17 quid if you buy them at the right time1 and apparently proper waterproof, I never knew that before. I replaced them with these2 splashing out £45. The sound is better on the new ones but I prefer the "joined up with a wire" ones they feel more secure when I'm out. Now I know they're waterproof I'm going to charge them up and give them a go. Also I can compare the sound side by side. The new ones just must be better.

Last night's David Devant gig was a disaster. Whoever was running it and streaming it just didn't have the bandwidth so it buffered constantly. They had prepared a great show, but it was all pre-recorded, so what was the point in streaming it live anyway? Why not just upload it? A shame, but I won't complain as it was a fundraiser.

Think I will take the boys out with their bikes over to West Hythe today, drive in order to ride. I never do this but we really have done the local area so it'll be nice to be somewhere different. Hmm I wonder if Unit Number One is open for takeaway?

Seriously thinking of closing down popex now, it has just not taken off at all this time. The stuff I did for popbitch also hasn't proved popular at all, I don't understand it. I don't think there's a problem with the tech that is stopping people trying it, I think there's just no call for these things these days. Lesson learned!

That quiz:

5k: Five kilometres, just over three miles in old money.
