Blog2020 ≫ Busy doing nothing

No updates since Friday! I have mostly been busy on that animated game idea, it's been a complete distraction from everything else. I did not even do anything on popex, I should have tried to clear that out of the way first. I will hopefully have something to link to by the next post, I'm uploading the animation here so I can share it. It has involved changing quite a lot about how this site is put together (using the improvements I learned while working on the popbitch stuff1) so it's all good knowledge building.

Saturday was relatively busy though. We started with thing two having an allergic reaction to something, probably my fault, but it soon passed. I went to the supermarket to get a prescription, then took Jim's shopping round to him, then spent a few hours cutting back his garden. It was hard work, and not satisfying, the garden looked worse after I'd finished. To top it all off I cut through the power cable on my electric hedge trimmer. Could have been worse, the safety features kicked in and cut the power, but it still made a nice pop.

I got some more beers from Morrisons at some point, and enjoyed those later. Also the Inn Doors was open for takeaway too so I got a few pints int here and saw some friends queued up there too. We kept our distance, no hand shaking. There was a Spaced marathon on TV on Friday or Saturday, with live tweeting from Edgar Wright. Even though I've got the DVDs2 and have seen it a lot this added a new dimension.

I went for a run at some point too, was that Saturday morning?

Yesterday's announcement from Boris Johnson was even more vague and useless than I had expected it to be. Do go out and exercise but keep socially distanced. Do go back to work if you can. Hmm, it's not up to me to go back to work is it?

Apropos of nothing this is some useful info about redundancy rights3, it looks like someone could apply for redundancy pay after four weeks of being asked to do short hours. Seems no chance of getting enhanced redundancy pay in the current climate but even statutory redundancy pay is not bad4 when you're as old as me:

You get:
