Blog2020 ≫ Lockdown lock-in pub quiz

Kez did a really good pub quiz last night, which we joined at the last minute. She did the quiz at The Seagull most weeks, and with that being off they're taking turns among that group of friends to run one on the facebook. I arrogantly assumed we would smash this quiz, but it was harder than I expected, and we only came fourth. We would not normally drink on a Tuesday but you can't do a pub quiz without a drink can you?

I watched the new series of Better Call Saul after the quiz, looks good.

Looks nice out there today, a high of 16° and a low of 7°, though I'm not feeling that warm indoors. The boys are sat in the lounge with the curtains drawn, and I'm still in my shorts from the Rosie Wicks workout so that's part of it. If I sneak past the lounge curtains and stand in the sun it's lovely. Will take them out for some exercise after lunch break is over, though they are trying it on, suggesting we have a day of not going out again...

This morning for English schoolwork I got them to write a lockdown diary, and it went down about as well as any other kind of creative writing. They were quite interested to learn that I have been writing here most days for nearly twenty years. They eventually got going and came up with most of a page. I'll get them to do this again and hopefully it will be something interesting to look back on after this is all over. It is hard to get them past writing "8:00 get up, 9:00 Joe wicks, 9:40 schoolwork" etc, but hopefully they'll write more next week. I tried to get them to write more of what they thought, hoped, wished for but maybe next time. Actually I don't do as much of that here as I should. I hope someone will spot my new efforts on popbitch and popex and offer me loads of money. I think it's good work but is it ultimately of any value? I hope the boys are keeping happy and sane at this time, saner tham I am anyway. I wish I'd got them to write something every week of this lockdown.

It is starting to feel like the end is in sight now, there is talk of lockdown being slightly loosened after this weekend. I'm unlikely to be going back to work any time soon though, the company will likely want to save wages as long as they can as travel restrictions means less income.

Channel 4 news was reporting 33000 deaths yesterday, not sure where they got those numbers from. These are from https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ still:
