Blog2020 ≫ What day is it again?

Have spent quite a bit of today working on an idea for popbitch, it's about 90% done now. I hope it comes to fruition, if not at least I learned some things. I'm about ready to share it, just battling with AWS "elastic beanstalk" which has not been quite as simple as I was led to believe.

If this goes smoothly I could easily reinstate popex, and have it at web-scale in a couple of days. The costs ought to be so much lower than they used to be. I'm hoping for almost free for this. I will find out with this popbitch example, where I will not ultimately be paying the bills.

Have not read anything today but just keeping this up to date:

Author Book Thoughts
Ian Rankin Westwind1 Dated thriller, shame.
Ian Rankin Doors Open1 Really good crime caper in Edinburgh but with no Rebus.
Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games1 Borrowed from the children, very good.
Suzanne Collins Catching Fire1 Hunger Games part 2, read this even quicker, a bit darker.
Suzanne Collins Mockingjay1 Hunger Games part 3, might as well finish it though I'm enjoying this one the least.

I have no coronavirus opinion either, but here's the top ten:

Country cases deaths
USA 738792 39014
Spain 194416 20043
Italy 175925 23227
France 151793 19323
Germany 143724 4538
UK 114217 15464
China 82719 4632
Turkey 82329 1890
Iran 80868 5031
Belgium 37183 5453

A high of 14° and a low of 7°, was lovely out. I walked this morning to fetch the car and then (don't tell anyone) walked to Hythe in the afternoon so the boys could get some exercise.

We had Chinese food tonight, sort of. Home cooked, as the boys are doing their "food in the news" challenge, picking a country from The Week Junior again. It was not such a success, though I made a stir-fry mostly out of things that should have been thrown out, and it was ok. I was going to call Nine Dragons and see if they could deliver or I could collect, but I lost confidence in the idea.

Spontaneously watched a really good film last night, "The Sense Of An Ending" based on this book1.
