Blog2020 ≫ Second cataract operation done

All done, appears to have gone smoothly. I now have no cataracts. As before I have the eye cover on for the rest of the day and night, then put it back on to sleep for the rest of the week. I can't fit my glasses over the top of the eye cover, and I think my prescription is now wrong anyway, so I can't quite see to write this. BIG FONT TIME!

The X on my forehead is to indicate to everyone on the production line which eye we're doing today. Imagine if they put the anaesthetic in one eye but then operated on the other. AAARGH!

The clinic was mostly deserted. Last operation the waiting room was full and there was a steady flow of people. This time I was the only patient in there before my op, and there was only one other person when I came out again. I had to have my temperature taken before they'd let me in the building (all clear so far) and then all the staff were fully masked up, even the admin people. When it came to the operation itself I felt and noticed it more this time. I could see more of what was going on for some reason and I must have tensed right up as it started because they offered me more anaesthetic. Yes please! After that it went smoothly.

Clare went in Sainsbury's after to get some food. Lots of empty shelves, especially the beer. There was only one brand of beer left, a Mexican bottled lager can you guess which one?

More beer related news, sad day, The Inn Doors is now closed. They're opening for takeaway only from 5pm to 6pm today. All the pubs are closed now of course. The Firkin Alehouse looks to be doing tood takeout business too1.

Today we've not done much but get on each others nerves, this bodes well for the next three months of staying in.

The kids are all using trendy new business video conferencing app Zoom2 as a social network. Everyone in thing one's class was in a chaotic group call earlier, and thing two and his friend are chatting now.

4094 coronavirus cases in the UK today, 180 deaths, 65 recovered.
