Blog2020 ≫ Cancelled my CAMRA membership and my chilli subscription

Getting ready for proper belt tightening, I have cancelled my CAMRA membership and my Flaming Licks chilli subscription. Reducing my direct debits and standing orders were possible. I asked the boys if it was OK to take their Beano and Week Junior and magazine subscriptions out of their pocket money and they're good with that (they didn't even know I was paying pocket money into their accounts). I've also suspended my saving in Premium Bonds for now and am considering my (small) charity contributions. The three biggest outgoings are mortgage (said yesterday, I can arrange a holiday there), food, and council tax. Food I will reduce my part on this by cutting down on the booze! This cuts it down by about a half. Partly serious here. I hope the others in the house can cut down on their lobster and foi-gras a little. Council tax though, should I just shut down the direct debit and wait for them to come knocking?

Would be GREAT if it's all over again in a couple of months and I can restart all this.

Waiting to hear what work suggest today.

School was odd this morning. It's sad to think of thing one not having a prize day, or leavers assembly. They might do these things virtually (this might really speed up school technology) but it might not.

Ro's year eleven daughter has been told "that's it, you're done, no need to come back". This is the year that should be doing GCSEs this summer. What on earth are they going to do there? If they give them their predicted grades it's not fair, as everyone thinks they would do better (I did a lot better than my predicted GCSEs). If they give them a little boost it's not fair as it devalues GCSEs even further for people who took them in previous years. They should probably offer predicted grades, or the option to resit next year. However with most of my grand pronouncements I have not thought this through fully.
