Blog2020 ≫ Hardest day of the year surely?

Kids are back to school today, and it was hard getting up in the dark and the cold for this. Thing two bounded in quite happily, thing one was less excited. They're in, and it's all underway, and everything's back to normal now. A full week for them, and for us too. It's a super busy booking ay at work today, everyone's thinking about their summer holiday on a day like this. We should be too, might get on to that soon.

I did not get up early and run. I slept well and everything, I went to bed at a sensible time after watching episode two of Dracula again, just did not feel like getting up. I see two of my workmates did a 10k this morning at 6am... I have put it off until lunchtime, then will eat my leftover takeaway after that. Speaking of which I seem to have gained over a kilo after eating that Chinese and the Greggs pastry thing yesterday. Who knew there was a correlation between eating stuff like this and gaining weight? Could also just be flakiness in our scales. I would like to get new scales1 so they are in the same ecosystem as my new Garmin watch, but they get terrible reviews unfortunately, not good wifi connectivity. Maybe I'll take a chance anyway...

Got a result on yesterday's Sainsbury's delivery. They brought us fruit with a short shelf life which we rejected so they gave us it for free, and we'll eat it anyway. Then Clare questioned the size of the piece of ginger (about the size of your fist and we only normally want a few cm to go in a stir fry) so they gave us that free too. That is £3.18 saved off this week's shopping. Every little helps, or is that the other one?

Happy birthday to Kev today. Nearly texted him earlier but then remembered the time difference, it's not quite 4am as I write this...

10k: Ten kilometres, just over six miles to you. Sometimes talking about 10,000 steps though, an arbitrary daily step count target.
