Blog2019 ≫ Pigs-in-blankets-gate

I read the comments on this story about a pigs in blankets shortage at 'Spoons and I should not have done. Only mentals comment on bbc news stories like that. The responses could have been auto-generated by bots, maybe they were. There is an unhealthy mix of "ha shortages are your fault you leaver" and "this is fake news spread by remoaners", with the very very very rare gem of sense in the dust.

For background in years to come, remember Brexit? This is about that, Tim Wetherspoons was an ardent leaver, and all the leavers say it will be fine when we leave the EU, so this is funny that his business is being hit by shortages already. Not shortages of food here but shortages of overseas workers I think.

A friend said "I’m sure I read somewhere that one Labour (ex) MP blamed the election result on the lack of pigs in blankets at Wetherspoons?!?!?", now can you guess which side he voted from that comment? For balance "I'm sure I read somewhere that many of the Tory MPs are going to profit from the country going down the toilet".

It's all still too raw, I can't write sensibly about this topic yet. If I was a smarter more creative man I would write a clever satirical piece about how Jeremy Corbyn remaining neutral on the subject of pigs in blankets led to the downfall of Labour, and how (though he is a vegan) he secretly can't get enough pigs in blankets. And while Boris Johnson is publicly a fan of pigs in blankets, secretly his personal preference is to pass on them, and have a few more sprouts instead.

How are we in this mess? More people voted for the parties who did not want to leave the EU this time, but because of the vote being split we don't get what the majority really wants. It's a disaster for future generations, and it hurts.

Last day of school for the decade today, they will go back in the year 2020.

Feels like a Friday today, but it is not.

I was not mocking that sketch of our new extension btw! I just wanted it saved for posterity.
