Blog2019 ≫ Kent Test results day

It's a bright and sunny day here, hope that is a good omen for the Kent Test results, which are due in the next few hours. Actually how can it be an omen? That would mean good results for everyone, which would not work. We need our boy to be in the top certain percent of results and all will be well. He's smart enough by a long way, it's all down to how the tests went on the day. This is an extremely fraught time.

If he doesn't get in fairly I wonder if we can do a deal, maybe bribing the DUP to support our claim, like Boris Johnson is going to have to do with Brexit?

Driving rain this morning but not hard enough to make running unpossible. I may go out for a gentle practice one today if I get time, though Thursdays are just generally too busy. Not drinking this week, imagine! I probably would not have had a drink so far this week, but last Thursday I went to the Inn Doors to make up for missing out on the Friday. Not this week, nor drinking Saturday. That is the plan. Partly spurred by someone I met at last week's parkrun who said she found the Great North Run itself to be easier than her training runs for it, partly because she wasn't hungover on the day.

Mum and Dad have suggested leaving the boys with them for the half term. We would miss them but it would be a treat for them, so we're both in favour. Going to double check that the boys don't have surprise party invites or other half term training camp suggestions when they get in.

Very much enjoying Dublin Murders, it's very good, a nice dark feeling that we have got from the Scandi-noir dramas.

Working from home, it's a two day "project lounge", this is our hack day. It's on a theme of sustainability, I'm trying to work out how much data transfer costs the environment.
