Blog2019 ≫ Pub tour by bike

After parkrun I dragged the family into Folkestone. They weren't keen at first until I mentioned Luben for lunch. I was originally thinking a Planet Earth Kitchen but that was not enough to seal the deal for anyone else.

Quite a nice Luben, very good service in there this time. I had the vegan fake pepperoni, and though it was smaller than the others and a bit light on toppings it was tasty. Thing one has moved up to adult sized meals, so everything's a bit more expensive, but it was good.

After I tried to shop, but no-one was enthusiastic, not even Clare. Got a couple of books for thing two and socks and a t-shirt for thing one, then home.

Normally here I'd have walked home and gone in the Inn Doors on the way but it was SHUT for a private party, to which I was not invited. So instead I planned a bike trip, thinking of the Red Lion at Snargate. However checking the map it suggested an hour and twenty to ride there, so a lot further than I thought. Instead I rode to Botolph's Bridge Inn for one, then to Unit Number One for a couple more, then home. The ride back seemed a lot faster than the way there, I think it helped a lot that I pumped up the soft tire. The bike is rattling quite a bit and I think I need a new tyre too. I will give it a bit of a service today but think it's really time for a new bike.

When I got back Clare suggested we all go out, so we went in the Fountain for one and all sat in the garden. Beer tasted a bit off, it's a great shame that pub is not better as it's so close.

A lazier day today I think. Clare is at pump class, then the shopping is coming, then not much planned.
