Blog2019 ≫ Being pestered by an annoying chick

One of the seagull chicks fell off the roof and onto our balcony yesterday afternoon. It seemed happy enough there, maybe it was dazed, but it couldn't get off the balcony again. I was hoping it would learn to fly and then fly off, so put some food out and left it. Still there in the evening so I carried it through the house to the back garden where there is more space for it. Had to wrap it in a towel to stop it pecking me. This morning it is still in the back garden. The gate is open, it could hop away, but I suppose not being able to fly it has nowhere to go. Maybe it thinks I am its mother now? I'm not climbing on the roof to put it back in the nest.

Working from home today but taking a half day. Clare has gone in to work, and I was hoping to just put the boys in front of the TV all day and work. As it is so lovely though it's not fair, so we're taking a picnic to the beach at lunch. I have set them a Lego mission for the morning, of reassembling some of the big sets, and I have some new comics for them in reserve, plus TV and tablet time.

Could be the hottest day of the year, but probably not here. Estimate is back to 33℃ again for this afternoon. "Quite cool" says Ryan in Australia...
