Blog2019 ≫ Sunny weekend, bit lazy

Clare was out at Bon Jovi on Friday night, so not only did I miss my trip to the Inn Doors, I missed the park run Saturday morning too. I was all set to pick the boys up from gymnastics on Friday, as Grandpa was taking them after school, but he was unwell so it did not happen. He's feeling a bit better now but has basically been ill since our holiday. Get well soon old chap!

Saturday morning I dragged the boys into Folkestone. Main purpose was to get a strimmer for the lawn. It had grown to waist height while we were on holiday and my pushalong mower could not cope. I completely forgot to actually buy the strimmer, but we did have a good lunch in Beano's and get some stuff for tea. Nice to have a walk round (a scoot round for them) even if they disagreed. They complained so much I didn't dare venture onto the Harbour Arm.

When Clare got back I went out to Homebase and bought the strimmer, and also an electric hedge trimmer as they were both so cheap. Instead of actually getting on with any gardening though we all went to the Inn Doors, they had icecream, we had cider, then we took them over to Roka for the first time to get pizza for tea. I had one too, was quite good but not as good as Luben. The boys say Roka was better. Now because I've had tea I can go back to the Inn Doors while they all head home! No-one I knew in there this time though so I had one and headed home.

Watched a Glastonbury programme on TV, it inspired me to go again, maybe for my next big birthday (which is obviously ages and ages away)? However this morning a couple of friends had had the same idea, so maybe next year? then maybe go with the kids on the big birthday year too.

Also while I'm having mad midlife crisis ideas I'm after an electric bike conversion kit1 means I can play electric bike fun without having to get a whole new bike. Also adds some DIY larks into the mix. It is not cheap though, that is the price WITHOUT battery, battery alone would be £350 I think. Still, maybe.

Sunday didn't do much, did do some of the garden though. Thing one went round a friend's house for a play date, so we took thing two out for a bike ride. Walking past the edge of Port Lympne we got right up close to the giraffes. Then to Unit Number One on the way home for a lovely relaxing pint.

School Summer fair this Friday too so another week of no gymnastics. I'm glad I'm paying a hundred or so a term for this... Aargh also extra school PTA meeting today ahead of that.
