Blog2019 ≫ Awesome weekend of food

Started the weekend with a lovely early start at the Inn Doors. My mian drinking buddy said he wasn't going to make it this week, working away late so I thought I'd take a walk into Folkestone instead, check out Home and see if The Potting Shed is a real thing. Part way there he called to say all back on track so we went to the Inn Doors instead, then home for dinner.

Saturday morning Clare was off to work, it was Plant Fair weekend, so no park run for me for the second week in a row. I did fit in a treadmill for the first time in a while, is this the beginning of the end of treadmill usage? Will it ever pay for itself? Mum and Dad arrived soon, so we had tea, sat on our new balcony furniture, then made lunch, then went out. To Hythe to a craft fair at the Tin Tabernacle, which was surprisingly good. All local artists I think with some very interesting things. I really liked the stuff made out of old tools, but only bought some new mugs. The boys played in the park, and everyone was happy. Home for more tea, then off out for dinner.

We met Clare in Aspendos in Folkestone and we had a great meal. The service there is really good and there was so much food. It's not the cheapest, when it is really only a small step up from kebab shop fare, but it was tasty and good and huge. We went home after, Clare working tomorrow and I up at 6am so we did not go out. Watched a Murdoch Mysteries that we had not seen, and then bed.

Yes up at 6am for the boot fair, raising money for the school. I biked down there leaving everyone else in bed and the PTA volunteers were gathered on Hythe Green at 6:15. Cars were queued right through Hythe to get in, so we opened the gates early and for the next seven hours I was parking cars, taking donations, and picking litter. It was a glorious day, and so busy, that the school must have made a good amount of money. Still a seven hour shift though. I caught the sun, and amazingly for a boot fair, bought nothing. I did not have time to look at the stalls at all.

After we had lunch on the Big Greek Bus, so mediterranean food two meals in a row. Similar stuff, very nice, feels less healthy for sure. I did have salad with mine. Very nice to be on the Harbour Arm, feels like a holiday, but especially nice to be sat inside. We got the best table at the back of the bus, so windows all round looking out to sea, but avoiding the wind that was a bit nippy really.

Mum and Dad had generously done some jobs around the house while I was a the boot fair and the boys were playing, and even more generously given us some more spending money for our holiday. A very nice weekend all round, even if no-one saw much of Clare. She came home about 5:30 and we had dinner and watched another Follow The Money. I really like that show.
